It's tough to be a baby panda sometimes.

I've been doing some freelance writing, and man, I love it. I *should* have little articles coming out for both Make magazine and Make:Crafts, and I was just offered a bigger article at Make:Crafts. Pretty rad. In addition, I may be writing for another super cool mag- but I won't mention it until they for sure want me to do what we talked about. It's funny...I always though of myself as a visual arts person...meaning that I thought my own artistic output would be "visual", drawing, illustration, painting. I only started writing because I noticed when I was on a roll writing press releases and such that I got into the same zone I did as painting. I put such value on my painting's outcome that it ruined the fun.But with writing I didn't feel I had to be perfect, so rather I found it enjoyable and ironically got pretty good at it (I should mention here what I write for mags and press releases is much more thought out that the random babble I spew out here - not to mention spell checked and lacking 14 year old surfer slang.)
So...that's nice. But it is keeping me from doing to much writing on Thumbmonkey (but so has running two galleries, working on Pop Surrealism 2,hanging out with my husband, trying to maintain relationships with friends, and chasing my sick beasts, Monkey and Kukui, around the house.) I do have a stash of stories saved up for when Rick gets our writing blog up though, including a story about how I got over being a goth, and the time I got a Stranger "I Saw U" personal ad...

Kipling just hipped me to the elegant ceramic work of Laura Zindel. She decorates them with all manner of wonderful creepy crawlies...I want a whole dinner set!
