This painting is one of my favorite recent paintings I've seen, by local painter Jacques Moitoret.
I'll be giving a lecture about Pop Surrealism on Feb. 24th at the Seattle Academy Of Fine Arts. This will be my 2nd lecture I've given- the first being at Mark Ryden's Seattle "Wondertoonel" exhibit opening- about the symbolism and archetypes found in his work. That one was really had since I hadn't done any public speaking since I graduated high school, plus Ryden is very enigmatic about the meaning in his work and I basically had to guess (though he told me later I was pretty spot on about a lot of it). I feel better about talking about Lowbrow/Pop Surrealism and I'm looking forward to it- particularly the Q and A part. I hope people show up!
