I am slowly working on my side perma-link pages. One of these will be named Seattlecentric, yea, Must-See Seattle Sights by Order of Dr. Menlo, a taste:Pagliacci's
My Fav: Verde Primo. Artichoke hearts, mushrooms, pesto, goat cheese, garlic and mozzarella on a seasoned tomato sauce.
Beatty's Books
On third. My favorite Seattle used bookstore. Run by Tom and Barbara, who came out from New England years ago to take it over. Tom used to be an english teacher back east, but just send a few minutes talking to him--if yer lucky, and many are--and you will soon see that that school system lost a great soul when they fled west. Many, many books lie unabandoned here. Some may be gunning for you.

Uwajimaya
The Hep Place to get groceries. I used to live right next to the old one.
[Them's were the Rowhouse Days. "One day," narrated one occupant of that particularly low-rent place I stayed, "there was a gun fight out front. Now, some of the bullets were coming into the hotel, see, so some of our guys got our their guns and began shooting at the bad guys from their windows. The police got on the bullhorn and said, 'Will everyone not involved in the gun fight please put your guns down.'"]
Left Bank Books
Best new book store. Small but oh-so-fiery.

The Elliott Bay Book Company
Second best new book store. Large and wise.

Cafe Flora
Haven't been there yet, but I hear it's great if overpriced.
See also: Green Cat Cafe. Love it, been many times. Like the tofu scramble heavy on the curry powder the best.

Mistress Matisse
Gravity Bar

Roq la Rue
For current show, see above!
I-Spy Nation
[Stay away from: "Underground Pioneer Square Tour"--it's just a couple basements of dirt, a talky guide, and a grand finale leaving you in a giftshop with products that snow when you shake them.]
Alibi Room
Just down the cobblestoned street of Post Alley. Under the pig. Secret local society dedicated to 36fps. Shh.
